How to assemble welded gabions basket?
Electric welded gabion mesh is a flexible gravity support structure formed by assembling anti-corrosion treated electric welded steel wire mesh into a rectangular box on site using spiral connectors, and then filling it with hard aggregates such as block stones, pebbles, or waste concrete.
💡 Features and advantages (welded gabion mesh)
- The mesh surface is flat, the welding points are firm, and the structural stability is high
- Easy to install, suitable for scenes with high appearance requirements such as landscape walls and retaining walls
- Compared to woven gabion mesh, welded type can better maintain the "cage like" structure and is less prone to bulging and deformation
The assembly of welded gabion mesh is very simple, and its assembly process is slightly different from that of woven gabion mesh, The specific steps are as follows:
🟢️ Step 1: Prepare components
Welded gabion mesh is usually composed of prefabricated welded mesh pieces such as front and rear panels, bottom plates, and partitions. It is usually folded and packaged at the factory and needs to be unfolded first.
🟢️ Step 2: Expand and locate
Unfold each mesh according to the design and confirm the position of each panel (such as front, back, bottom, and partition).
🟢️ Step 3: Spiral wire assembly
Use spiral binding wires (usually included with the product) to connect the panels. The specific operation is to screw the spiral wire into the edge holes of adjacent mesh sheets to form a firm connection.
🟢️ Step 4: Strengthen the corners
Extra reinforcement shall be applied to the corners and partitions of the gabion to ensure overall structural stability.
🟢️ Step 5: Fill stone material
Fill the assembled net cage with stone materials, which should be hard and have appropriate particle size. When filling, pay attention to compactness and avoid voids.
🟢️ Step 6: Capped and sealed
After filling is completed, cover the top mesh and secure it with spiral or binding wire to complete the closure.

⚠️ Precautions
- Before assembly, check whether each mesh is deformed or if the solder joints are detached
- The spiral must be tightened to avoid loosening later
- When filling stone materials, they should be layered to ensure compactness
- If used in hydraulic engineering, the slope and arrangement should be controlled according to the design drawings
If you are using woven gabion mesh(non welded), its assembly method mainly relies on manual connection with binding wires, with slightly different processes.. If you need this section, please refer to the assembly guide for woven gabions.
