Gabion – Woven & Welded Wire Mesh for Erosion Control and River Protection

Gabion It is an engineering component that is woven into a cage structure with high-strength metal mesh (usually galvanized steel wire, PVC coated steel wire, or aluminum zinc alloy steel wire), filled with natural stones or pebbles, and achieves functions such as protection, support, erosion resistance, and ecological restoration through its own weight and flexible structure.Used to reinforce river embankments, prevent erosion and protect rivers, embankments, seawalls, and reservoirs.

The Gabion box has strong corrosion resistance, overall flexibility and stability.

  • The raw materials include galvanized and zinc aluminum alloy
  • Good flexibility:the overall structure can be extended.
  • Corrosion resistance: Galvanized material is not afraid of seawater.
  • permeability, beneficial for the stability of slopes and riverbeds
  • Project reference can be supplied for your bid.
  • Orders of all sizes are at wholesale prices.
  • CAD or 3D drawing can be supplied for your design and construction.
Several gabion are filled with rocks to create a solid retaining wall.

Product Advantages

  • Corrosion and rust resistance. Whether Gabions retaining wall is Thick galvanized gabion mesh, galvanized then PVC coated or Galfan coating, it has high corrosion and rust resistance.
  • Excellent durability. Our gabion are all made of high quality low carbon wire, and the edge of each is reinforced by thicker wires which gives them high loading capacity, then they can provide better soil stabilization.
  • Good permeability. Has good permeability and can prevent damage caused by hydrostatic forces. Beneficial for the stability of slopes and beaches
  • High flexibility. The woven gabion retaining wall can suffer a wide range of deformations but will not collapse
  • Economical. The retaining wall is usually filled with recyclable rocks, stones or soil.
  • Environmentally friendly. The fillers in the gabion basket are rocks, stones or soil which will not cause environmental pollution.
  • Strict quality control. Each of our gabion retaining wall will be accurately measured before packaging.

Related Information

  • We always line the back of the baskets with geotextile fabric to prevent soil erosion while allowing water to pass through—critical for Pacific Northwest rain!
  • A stainless steel welded gabion box is a rigid wire mesh cage manufactured from austenitic stainless steel (grades 304, 316, or 316L). It is designed for high-corrosion environments such as coastal, marine, and chemical-exposed areas, and is widely used for retaining walls, slope protection, landscape architecture, and hydraulic engineering.

Choosing a Stainless Steel Welded Gabion Box gives even better corrosion resistance and a more uniform structure.

    More details are provided below:

  • The standard options are grades 304 and 316. Grade 304 works well for most normal environments, while grade 316 is more reliable for coastal or highly corrosive areas.

  • Cost mainly depends on the stainless steel grade, wire thickness, mesh size, box dimensions, and order quantity. While the initial investment is higher, the long-term durability makes it very cost-effective.

  • It’s not complicated and is similar to installing standard gabions: assemble the box, place it in position, fill with stones, and close it. That said, stainless steel projects usually have higher aesthetic requirements, so it’s best handled by experienced contractors.

Please refer to Welded Gabions Assemble Guide

  • If built and installed correctly, a stainless steel gabion wall can easily last over 50 years. Since it doesn’t rely on coatings for protection, its strength remains stable over the long term.
